Qingdao Jet Marine Logistics Co., Ltd., also known as JMS Logistics, was founded in 1993 as an ocean freight forwarder. Over 300 employees work at its Qingdao headquarters and branch offices in Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai and Tianjin.

JMS Logistics received a Class A license for air freight in 2001 and an NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) license for ocean freight in 2002. It’s also a licensed customs broker.

JMS Logistics acts as a booking agent for carriers in Qingdao enabling other logistics companies that do not have contract rates with carriers to use its service. According to Ms. Janet Liu, 80% of its cargo volume comes from other logistics companies in need of its booking agent service, and the rest is from direct customers. JMS Logistics’ direct customers include Hisense, Tsingtao Brewery, and Cherry Group. Global logistics provider customers include APL Logistics, DB Schenker, DHL, Expeditors, Panalpina and UPS. Because of its large cargo volume, JMS Logistics is a top NVO in Qingdao.

It primarily handles ocean exports with the main destinations being Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific. At the same time, JMS Logistics does handle some ocean imports. Ocean imports business is mainly initiated by its 100 overseas agents.

JMS Logistics doesn’t handle much air freight as Qingdao is not a big gateway for air freight. Its air freight volume is about 200 to 250 tons per month.

Since it has a customs broker license, it handles customs clearance itself for most shipments. This ensures it’s providing qualified services to its customers.

JMS Logistics is very popular as it opened a Weibo (similar to Twitter) Internet account. This makes it easy to release information and communicate with customers.

Ms. Janet Liu, in charge of the marketing department, manages many key accounts. JMS Logistics also has a local sales team developing new customers including local, direct customers and small logistics companies.

Because JMS Logistics has substantial cargo volume, good customs clearance experience and strong port services, it’s a nice option for logistics companies looking for an agent in Qingdao.
