Shanghai Sunhua Logistics started as a trucking business in 1994. Today, it is a third-party logistics provider (3PL) with a pharmaceuticals focus. It is headquartered in Shanghai with branch offices in Chengdu, Guangzhou and Tianjin. With its staff of 100 employees, it generated $10 million in gross revenue in 2010.
Sunhua Logistics has 30 of its own trucks and 500 trucks under contract with subcontractors. It operates in 105 lanes between major cities in China and uses a distribution network of nine distribution centers located in Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Shanghai, Tianjin, Wuhan, Xinjiang and Zhengzhou.
Hong Kong-based pharmaceutical manufacturer Bright Future is Sunhua Logistics’ key customer. Sunhua Logistics handles all the distribution throughout China for Bright Future and is its lead 3PL.
Other than pharmaceutical logistics, Sunhua Logistics also provides project, chemical, and contract logistics services. It operates a 16,000 square meter warehouse in Shanghai and a 10,000 square meter warehouse in Tianjin.
According to Mr. Songbiao, the company’s management is focused on culture, information technology and e-business, which differentiates it from other 3PLs. Most of its staff is very young with an average age of 30. Its e-business will support Sunhua Logistics’ delivery service to smaller companies. Because most of its customers are foreign companies, it has good finance control.
